Formed in the summer of 2012, Canned Beets has built a buzz opening for Austin, TX  favorites (Hard Proof, Tomar and the FC's, and Mingo Fishtrap) and playing iconic rooms around town (Continental Club, Antone's). Canned Beets performs weekly at Half Step Bar, which will roll into it's sixth year in May 2020. Catch them Wednesdays, 9- Midnight.

Members Rydog (guitar, Nightowls/D Madness), Doug Leveton (drums, Black Joe Lewis/KP and the Boom Boom), and Rolf Ordahl (keys/bass, The Imperial Starlighters/Archie Bell) explore the intersection of improvisation and heavy pocket grooves inspired by organ funk and roots rhythms.
